Absorbent and yellow and porous is he! We’re talking about SpongeBob, of course, which is our latest party theme! If you have a kiddo who loves SpongeBob, then be sure to check out our SpongeBob classic party supplies, which are bright, bold, and fun, just like SpongeBob himself.
Besides having tons of fun SpongeBob birthday party loot, we’re also full of fun SpongeBob party ideas, which we’ve collected on our SpongeBob Party Ideas Pinterest Board. Today, we gathered 10 of our favorite ideas to share with you below:
1. SpongeBob party decor via Karo’s Fun Land
This hostess turned this SpongeBob birthday party into an under-the-sea luau with some fun touches with the decor. A fish net backdrop, grass tableskirt, tissue paper pineapples, yellow and aqua tissue paper pom poms, and a gossamer backdrop can turn your celebration into an equally festive SpongeBob bash!
2. Buoy and bait centerpiece via Kara’s Party Ideas
For centerpieces, go out-of-the-ordinary with buoys and buckets of candy “bait.” If you don’t have a buoy, you can make your own out of craft foam. We also love the colorful pennant banners in the background, which definitely match SpongeBob’s colorful character.
3. SpongeBob party table via Delicate Construction
These table decorations are super simple and inexpensive! To get this look, use pineapples, brightly colored tulle, and netting on the tables. Make the SpongeBob centerpieces by printing out the characters, cutting them out, and taping them to popsicle sticks. Put the sticks in jars filled with sand. Don’t forget leis for the backs of the chairs!
4. SpongeBob craft via cityBee studio
For a fun craft idea, have the kids make their own paper SpongeBob characters. Depending on the age of the kids, you could pre-cut all the shapes. Or, give them a template and let them cut the shapes themselves. These could also make fun DIY invitations.
5. SpongeBob birthday cake via Hostess with the Mostess
This SpongeBob cake is almost too perfect to eat! Stack layers of cake to make SpongeBob’s body, and use yellow fondant for SpongeBob’s body and face. We love the idea of presenting your SpongeBob cake on a bed of crushed graham crackers to look like sand.
6. SpongeBob Krabby Patty cupcakes via Biddy Bear Cupcakes
How fun are these Krabby Patty cupcakes?! To make your own, bake vanilla cupcakes and split them in half to make the two “buns.” Then, use piping bags to pipe chocolate and dyed vanilla icing onto the bottom bun to look like a hamburger and toppings. Top with the other “bun” and sprinkle with sugar crystals.
7. Patrick cookies via Mom Goes Simple
Bring SpongeBob’s sidekick, Patrick, into the mix with some simple Patrick cookies! To make these, all you need is a star cookie cutter and some pink, green, purple, and black icing. You could also make SpongeBob cookies with a rectangle cookie cutter.
8. SpongeBob party food via Kara’s Party Ideas
To eat, Krabby Patty burgers are a must! Grill your own, or get a bag of McDonald’s hamburgers to put in a bowl. Another fun food idea is to make Patrick sandwiches with help from a star-shaped cookie cutter.
9. SpongeBob pineapple via Total City Girl
For healthier fare that fits with the theme, serve tropical fruit salad. This hostess cut a pineapple in half, length-wise, hollowed it out, cut up the meat, and put it back into the pineapple for fun presentation that fits the party — because we all know, Spongebob “lives in a pineapple under the sea!”
10. Salty Spitoon via The McMommy Chronicles
With SpongeBob as the theme, it’s bound to be a boisterous party, so we love McMommy’s idea to serve the grownups an adult beverage. Go classic with wine, or blend up a pitcher of pina coladas. Be sure to make a sign above the beverages that says, “Salty Spitoon,” which is the name of the bar in SpongeBob’s town of Bikini Bottom.
Have fun planning your SpongeBob party! Feel free to share your own party details in the comments below.
